Mice
were divided into 4 groups in this experiment. One group served
as controls. A second was injected once per week with dimethylhydrazine
(DMH), which induces colon cancer. A third group was also given
DMH, plus radiation with 2.45 GHz for 3 hours daily, 6 days per
week for 5 months. The average SAR was 10-12 W/kg. The fourth group
was given DMH and a tumour promoter, TPA, which was injected once
per week for 10 weeks.
The
incidence of tumours was the same in the three test groups. The
authors stated that the radiation did not promote DMH-induced colon
cncers in the mice.
