Nylund
R, Lesczczynski D (2004):
The authors exposed
human endothelial cells to RFR at 900 MHz for 1 hour at a SAR of 2.4
W/kg. They observed the effect of this, compared to sham exposure,
on the expression of proteins. They used 2-two-dimensional electrophoresis
to assess the response.
Up to 38 proteins
had statistically significantly altered levels. The authors identified
4 of these, two of which were vimentin. This is a protein used in
the cytoskeleton ( the supporting structure of the cell).
The authors hypothesize
that mobile phone radiation might affect the cytoskeleton and have
an effect on the physiological functions that are regulated by the
cytoskeleton, including the blood-brain barrier.
