Human lymphocytes were exposed for 2 hours to 455.7 MHz, by placing the cells 5 cm. from the antenna of a car phone. The SAR was approximately 6.5 W/kg. The experiment was repeated with the cells subsequently being exposed to a chemical mutagen, mitomycin C (MMC), and in another experiment to X-rays. There were no statistically significant differences in chromosome aberrations or sister chromatid exchange frequency between the exposed cells and controls. The authors state that the exposure was not well characterized |
