P, Huuskonen H, Komulainen H, Kumlin T, et al. (2006):
The authors used 3-chloro-4-(dichloromethyl)-5-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone (MX) to induce cancer in rats. At age 7 weeks the rats were divided into 4 groups, with 72 in each group. One group was a cage-control group. The others were given MX daily in their drinking water. One of the MX groups was a sham-exposed group, while the other two were exposed to 900 MHz pulsed radiofrequency radiation (RFR). The RFR groups were exposed for 2 hours per day, 5 days a week for 104 weeks. One group was exposed at whole-body SAR of 0.3 W/kg, and the other at 0.9 W/kg. Histopathology was done blindly on all rats, whether they died before the end of the experiment, or at 2 years, when the survivors were killed. RFR did not make any statistically significant differences in mortality or organ-specific incidence of any tumour type. |
