Introduction
Circadian rhythms represent a ubiquitous property of mammalian physiology. Many biological, hormonal and biochemical parameters oscillate in animals in circadian cycles.

Objective
The aim of this study was to determine interactions between different electromagnetic fields and circadian rhythms of glucose, triglycerides and total cholesterol in rats.

Methods
A total of 72 male and female Sprague-Dawley rats were used in 2 experiments. The first experiment was carried out with exposure for 19 hours per day (from the 12th day of embryonic life to the end of life) to extremely low frequency (50 Hz) electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) and included 3 groups of animals: 1) exposed to 1000 µT (n=6); 2) 100 µT (n=6); 3) control group (0 µT; n=6). In the second experiment, 3 groups of animals (6 animals each) were exposed for the same duration to GSM-1.8 GHz (RF-EMFs): 1) 50 V/m, 2) 25 V/m and 3) 0 V/m (control). Blood was collected from animals exposed to ELF-EMFs at 84 weeks of age, and from animals exposed to RF-EMFs at 56 weeks of age.

Results and interpretation
The results suggest that exposures to ELF-EMFs and RF-EMFs at the studied intensities interact with the circadian rhythms of the studied parameters in rats, which is in agreement with other studies. The effects of exposure depend on the frequency and animal sex.

Conclusion
The authors have concluded that “exposure to different electromagnetic fields is responsible for the variations in circadian rhythms of parameters studied.”
